What’s Your One Word for the Year?- Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14

Happy Friday! Do you ever have those ‘ah-ha’ moments that you know will shape the direction you are heading? Today, was one of those days! This afternoon, the Marketplace Women of Orange County Leadership Team hosted their quarterly leadership lunch and we went around the table and shared ‘our one word’ for 2018. I’ll get back to my word in a moment. If you haven’t read about the Marketplace Women organization on my blog yet, let me share with you our purpose- “We meet to inspire each other as we seek to integrate our professional, personal and spiritual lives.” I’ve been a member for a 2.5 years and joined the leadership team this fall which has blessed me tremendously. It’s beyond a networking group, it’s dozens of like-minded Christians who seek to better themselves in the workplace in a spiritual way.

Everytime I get together with these ladies, I can feel the Holy Spirit in an intense way, sometimes even more than at church. Maybe it’s that the Holy Spirit is a strong force in a small room and He speaks to me more clearly. I don’t know if I’ll ever know exactly why, but I know He is doing big things through this organization.

Alright, back to my 2018 word to live by. We were warned ahead of time to come prepared with our choice of word, and it came to me right away what I should choose.

I want to be purposeful with my time, my words, my actions, my relationships, my prayer life… with everything.

This week I started and finished the book of Ecclesiastes, and found this verse…

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” – Ecclesiastes 12: 13-14

Solomon states that God will bring EVERY deed into judgement. How can we not be purposeful for the sake of our heavenly future? That may seem like a lot of pressure to put on ourselves, but if God is at the center of everything, our decision making will be much simpler. I want to be purposeful in what I blog about, who I spend my time with, what food I put in my body, how frequently I am I am in the word, and my wedding planning process which is always in the back of my mind!

Do you have a word for the year? If so, I’d love to know! Leave a comment below!

My SoCal ‘winter’ uniform is a chunky sweater, distressed denim, and suede booties. It’s simple, cozy, and mindless when I am getting dressed in the morning. My sweater collection is expanding to taste the rainbow and dressing in color makes those gloomy days seem bright! I bought this sweater on Black Friday at Nordstrom for an amazing price and so naturally I’ve been wearing it on repeat. My favorite accessory of this ensemble is my gray pom pom earrings that John brought home for me from Japan! Accessories are a fun way to stylize a simple look! I’m all about the statement earring trend!

Have a blessed week!
