Mountain Getaway- 2 Corinthians 1:7

So this is it, the end of my true winter season escapades! I fully expect April showers and more El Niño downpour, but I am officially ready for spring! This year for my birthday/ Valentine’s weekend, I wanted nothing more than a cabin getaway in Big Bear, California. My boyfriend and I packed our bags for a extended weekend snowboarding trip. After finally investing in knee pads, butt pads, and wrist guards, I hardly even fell! After long days on the slopes, by slopes I mostly mean bunny hills, locals recommended Royal Thai Cafe and Himalayan Restaurant for our two dinners. Both eateries in the Village where scrumptious and full of flavor. To top it all off, seeing the lake frozen over was such a site to see!
Back in high school , I distinctly remember having a dramatic and extremely unnecessary breakdown about not having any cute clothes to wear to the mountains. I didn’t have snow shoes, a warm jacket, or cozy snow accessories. One quick trip to Target solved that first world problem. Ever since, I have collected functional, yet fashionable mountain attire. This North Face quilted jacket has a fuzzy lining that I wear every time I go camping or anywhere that will be near freezing temperatures. When shopping for that one outerwear piece, I highly recommend a neutral such as gray. One color combo I am in love with is yellow and gray. My boyfriend bought this beanie for me at a REI and my mittens are hand knitted by his grandmother! It’s time to say goodbye to my winter accessories for another year!

Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:7
This was a sad week for my family, as Grandma Laurel Kelley went to be with the Lord this Thursday morning. Grandma Kelley was my last living grandparent and quite the trooper as she lived to be 92 years old. She was spunky and full of life until her sudden health issues in the last few weeks. I found out the news while walking out of Community Bible Study after a beautiful lesson on God’s comfort. I immediately felt the Holy Spirit’s comfort as I let the news sink in. God is not only aware of our sufferings, but is ready with open arms to deliver us with his unending love. This week was much easier after having studied this verse that Paul was teaching the people of Corinth. I am looking forward to being reunited with my grandma in Heaven one day!
Have a blessed week!
