Another year in Oak Glen for the books! Spending the day in beautiful apple country is a longstanding Kelley tradition. My father has been going for over 5 decades! While we have a specific itinerary that we follow year after year, we always find something new and different. This time around we found a two mile hiking trail through all the fall foliage and a BBQ sandwich that was to die for! Of course we drank apple cider and devoured apple pie, but when I stumbled upon another pastry stand, they were fresh out of apple donuts that were on the menu! Not okay.
Because I know that my family will be heading to Oak Glen each and every fall season, I plan my outfit months in advance. I was eyeing this Free People flannel for weeks, but it was outside the price range I wanted to pay. I waited patiently, and BOOM, one day it was being price-matched 25% off, so my credit card flew out of my wallet and into the payment terminal at the register. What I love about this plaid tunic is the feminine accent of the ruffle at the bottom and the oversized plaid print. Because of the shades of blue in the flannel, I wore my darkest DL1961 skinny jeans and my navy Longchamp tote bag. While my boots are not over the knee, my new favorite trend is layering OTK (over the knee) socks over my jeans that stick out of my tall boots! The key here is keeping the color palate either very monochromatic, but with texture, or having stark contrast in the hues.

Sustain me with raisins; refresh me with apples, for I am sick with love.
Song of Solomon 2:5
With the holiday season rapidly approaching, it is easy to become burnt out during November and December. As next week kicks off the retail holiday madness with Black Friday, I know that it is even more important now than ever to look to God for rest and reassurance. There is a reason that Solomon states to be refreshed with apples; they rejuvenate the body, and God’s word will rejuvenate the soul!
Have a blessed week!
