I was laying in bed the other night and I looked out the window because I heard some pitter-patter. These little droplets of H2O were falling from the dark clouds. The only scientific explanation I could think of was this weather thing I heard of once called… RAIN! As I have mentioned before, drinking hot coffee is not something I do regularly, mostly because I can’t consume and entire tall coffee (yes I know tall is a small). Because I foresaw official sweater weather, I was on a mission to find an adorable coffee shop. My roommate suggested Portola Coffee Lab at The OC Mix, so off we went! Well, first I had to get dressed.
Believe it or not, I have a difficult time putting minimalistic outfits together with denim. I try so hard to be effortlessly chic, and apparently, simple is just not my forte. I have been obsessed with my Paige distressed boyfriend jeans for two years and I have learned that I need to wear some sort of heeled shoe so that I don’t look more petite than I already am. Baggy doesn’t always work on a 5 foot frame. Since suede is my obsession this season, I have translated this trend into my footwear. My Dolce Vita booties from Nordstrom Last Chance have just the right heel height AND width for day-off comfort. My secret to oversized sweaters is finding thinner knits verses chunky knits. I tend to look like a marshmallow in heavy fabrications. The final step to completing minimalistic ensembles is delicate layering jewelry and the perfect handbag. My style has perfected being matchy-matchy, so naturally my JJ Winters cross-body bag was the exact same shade as my sweater!

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11
My community bible study’s memory verse this week was 1 Corinthians 3:11. Jesus Christ has laid the only foundation we need for our earthly and eternal life, so we don’t need to look to other celebrities, idols, or pastors for a firm ground to stand on! This triggered my imagination to think that just as Jesus Christ is our motivation to keep on keeping on, coffee also plays a part in a staple to everyday motivation! One of my favorite cliches is “I need a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus!” A little latte during quiet time creates the perfect bonding time with the Holy Spirit!
Have a blessed week!
