Sarah in the City: Paris Fashion Week Day 1

For any girl who loves clothes as much as I do, Paris is the mecca, capital, and center of the fashion world. I had no idea what I was missing out on my whole life! Every corner of this city took my breath away. I mean, cafes for days. Shopping for miles. Eating for hours. Do I need to say more? Day one in Paris was one giant walking tour led by my bestie and hostess Kellie. Okay we did take the metro occasionally, but my Nike Roshe Runs came in handy for the THIRTEEN miles of walking! We started at the Arc de Triomphe where Kellie’s darling apartment was just steps away from. Crossing the Pont d’Alexandre, walking along side of the Seine River, starring up at the Eiffel Tower by day (and popping champagne by night), nibbling on a flaky croissant from a boulangerie for breakfast, eating a crepe from a cafe for lunch, and hiding from the rain with warm coffee in hand inside another cafe, and chowing down on quiche for dinner was just unreal.

The weather was cliche Paris with beautiful skies one moment and bursts of rain moments later. After watching Midnight in Paris the night we arrived, Paris really is most beautiful in the rain. Because of the chilly weather, I layered my favorite fur coat, over by denim chambray shirt, and striped swing tank (All Nordstrom). My fashion goal for the season was to be ‘Sporty Chic’ by sporting sneakers with street style. The easiest way for me to do this was by purchasing black Nike’s that would match with everything. My new fashion goal is to be totally Parisian. A girl can dream right?

And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days’ journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them.
Numbers 10:33

The Arc de Triomphe in Paris triggered my memory of a topic I studied earlier in the year, the Ark of the Covenant in the Bible. The Ark of the Covenant was the sacred chest which held the tablets of the 10 Commandments. The Arc and the Ark are both symbols of great power. Following the 10 Commandments sounds like a cake walk. Don’t murder. Check. Don’t Steal. Check. What about honor thy mother and father? What about keep the Sabbath day? Whoops I have messed up in more than one place. Remembering these simple commands of God will help us all live happier lives!

Have a sparkling week!
