My cheeks smile from ear to ear when I think about the circus! Not only because the cotton candy, the acrobatic stunts, or the spectacular costumes, but for the mere thought of God being the ringleader of the circus we call life. Circus Vargas, the traveling circus, has made its way to Orange County, right in the backyard of my new Nordstrom location. Like a kid in a candy store, I felt compelled to explore the tents after hours. Playing dress-up was absolutely necessary, so I brought out my gold glitter pumps, polka-dot bow, ruffled corset, and textured shorts.
Serve only the Lord your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.
Do you hear the actions in this verse? We are called to serve the master. To fear him. To obey his commands. To listen. Does a circus act do all these actions for their ringleader? ABSOLUTELY. If an act were to disobey, it could result in physical disaster. This is what happens when we choose to disobey Jesus, our ringleader. We should be clinging to God for dear life, because without Him, we are no different than a bunch of untamed circus animals, wild and lost. We don’t have to be a trapeze artist waiting to fall, because God is our teacher and safety net. When God is in control of our circus, the show just comes together.
Have a spectacular week!
