Who knew that in the midst of Orange County lay a strawberry field? I guess everyone, but me! Based on the crowd at Tanaka Farms, it seems to be that strawberry season is in full swing. This means that I will be consuming more chocolate-covered strawberries than usual. This field had the sweetest little produce market, or in French it would be called chez le marchand de fruits, with all varieties of produce including starfruit, asian pairs, and apples the size of your face. A strapless romper, vintage necklace, and snake-skin sandals made for the perfect ensemble to stroll the fields.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things.
I would love to wholeheartedly proclaim that I am all of these fruits, all the time. However, I have to admit that I am lousy at many of these fruits, way too often. This verse is a sweet reminder to constantly attempt to be more like Christ with my heart and mind. In order to grow these fruits within ourselves, we must solely rely on the Holy Spirit to help harvest these character traits. These characteristics are all found in Jesus and when we do our best to imitate his nature, we are honoring his command to love God and love our neighbors.
Have a bountiful week!
