Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting a legendary fashion icon of mine, Sarah Jessica Parker! SJP was at Nordstrom at the Grove promoting her new spring shoe collection. Not only was she dressed head-to-toe miraculous, but she was so genuine and charismatic, just like Carrie Bradshaw. Sarah Jessica and I bonded over having the same name, casually talking shoes, and my Style Servant blog. Beyond fashion, this woman is an inspiration, role model of good character, and humble in all her successes.
Your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like the shoes on your feet.
Ephesians 6: 15
Let’s face it, shoes are important. Shoes don’t have to be designer, expensive, or even fashionable, but shoes play a function in all of our lives. They are the foundation of what we walk on, yet many of us, including myself can hide behind fancy shoes as a facade. This verse in Ephesians is using shoes as a symbol as a piece of armor that is just as important as being prepared to share the Gospel of Peace. We should be using the Gospel as our rock, just as shoes protect our feet from the rough, uneven ground. My desire to share the Word of God will forever be a constant reminder when I put on the finishing touch of my outfit, my shoes.
